The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships in our NIAAA-funded T32 training program. Fellows receive interdisciplinary training in etiology and treatment of alcohol use disorders with mentors across multiple departments.

Applications include CV, two references, a cover letter identifying potential mentors, a 2-page research statement, and a training plan. Starting dates are flexible; review begins in December. AA/EOE.

Postdoctoral Fellowships in Alcohol Etiology and Treatment

The University at Buffalo has openings for postdoctoral fellows in our NIAAA-funded T32 training program. The program, now in its 26th year, provides specialized pre and post-doctoral training for individuals seeking to pursue a career in alcohol research. The interdisciplinary training program emphasizes two primary areas: (1) etiology and course of alcohol use and misuse, including biological and psychosocial influences, and (2) treatment for alcohol use disorders. Fellows develop and pursue research interests under the supervision of faculty preceptors. Seminars on psychosocial, biological and medical aspects of alcohol use disorders, current alcohol research, grant writing, statistics/research methods, professional issues and career development are an integral part of the training program. Fellows often work with faculty across the University (most commonly in Community Health and Health Behavior, Psychology, Social Work, Pharmacology and Toxicology). A complete application will include curriculum vitae, two letters of reference (one from doctoral advisor), and a cover letter identifying potential mentors. The application also must include a 2-page (single-spaced) research statement describing Interest in alcohol research, prior research experience and achievements, and training and career goals and how this fellowship will serve these goals. In addition, an example training plan outlining key goals for the training period and timeline for achieving these goals is encouraged. Inquiries can be made to either Gregory G. Application review will begin in December and continue until positions have been filled. Starting dates are flexible. Applications from diverse candidates are particularly welcome.
