Job description

A full-time postdoctoral research fellowship is available to advance cancer epidemiology research through genomic methods and risk modeling.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to study design, project implementation, project management, data analysis, and manuscript preparation


• Collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers across the University of Maryland School of Medicine and with national and international academic partners


• Use genomic methods and analytical approaches to integrate existing datasets with genomic and phenotypic data


• Develop and refine risk prediction models for complex diseases and traits


• Analyze complex genomic datasets and support statistical modeling for cancer, oncogenic viral infections, and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs)


• Develop and manage a database and coordinate study and research projects


• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and perform systematic reviews


• Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal publication


• Support protocol development, study design and implementation, supervision of junior researchers, presentations at national and international conferences, and grant writing

Requirements

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills


• Proficiency in one or more statistical or programming platforms: R, Python, SAS, or Stata


• Experience working with complex datasets and epidemiologic analyses


• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams


• Excellent organizational, record-keeping, and project management skills


• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
