Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the TEAM-AI Lab within the QSHS department. The role centers on designing mixture-of-experts neural architectures and RL pipelines for AI-driven biomedical research and real-world health data applications.

You will contribute to multimodal NLP, clinical phenotyping, and responsible AI across NIH-funded projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and leveraging HPC resources.

Qualifications

• PhD earned within the last three years.
• Strong background in mixture-of-experts, transformers, and reinforcement learning.
• Experience with multimodal NLP, LLMs, and cross-attention fusion.
• Knowledge of ontological engineering, knowledge graphs, and CDEs.
• Experience with high-performance computing and big data analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of mixture-of-experts neural architectures and RL pipelines for counterfactual disease trajectory simulation.
• Architect and evaluate multi-site cardiotoxicity risk prediction models with EHRs, NLP, imaging features, and non-medical determinants.
• Coordinate AI and computational phenotyping work streams across a national network to standardize data elements.
• Develop language models and NLP pipelines to extract phenotypes and biomarkers from clinical notes.
• Build semantic knowledge graphs and database query architectures for organ injury research.
• Publish high-impact first-author or co-author manuscripts; perform related duties as assigned.
