Job description

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Multimodal AI for Prostate Cancer Imaging (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY)

The Radiology Intelligence Group is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Diagnostic, Molecular, and Interventional Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This position is centered on multimodal AI for prostate cancer imaging, with secondary interests in clinical natural language processing and computer vision. The research fellow will contribute to federally funded and institutionally supported research programs that develop and validate AI‑driven tools to improve prostate cancer detection, characterization, and treatment guidance. The role offers an excellent opportunity to conduct innovative AI research powered by large‑scale, real‑world clinical data and to work directly with a team of AI scientists and world‑renowned clinicians in radiology, pathology, and urology, gaining cross‑disciplinary expertise that accelerates translational AI research from bench to bedside.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop multimodal AI models for registration, detection, segmentation, and grading tasks using mult‑parametric MRI and histopathology data for prostate cancer.
  • Collaborate closely with radiologists and clinical specialists to formulate clinically relevant research questions and develop AI‑driven solutions to improve prostate cancer patient care.
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of scientific manuscripts.
  • Contribute to grant applications to federal or industry‑sponsored research.
  • Help mentor graduate students on project-specific tasks.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong background in deep learning and medical image analysis, with demonstrated experience in image segmentation, classification, detection, or multimodal learning for radiology applications.
  • Strong publication record as the first author in peer‑reviewed venues such as MICCAI, ISBI, CVPR, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, Medical Image Analysis, radiology journals, or equivalent venues.
  • Experience with multiparametric MRI analysis and/or radiology‑pathology correlation analysis in prostate cancer is a plus.
  • Experience with clinical natural language processing applied to clinical or radiology text (e.g., report generation, entity extraction, or LLM fine‑tuning) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks, AI infrastructure, and deployment tools (e.g., high‑throughput LLM inference frameworks vLLM) is a plus.
Compensation

The salary range for this role is $72,500 – $80,000 per year. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational needs. The listed salary does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
