The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Intramural Research Program (IRP), is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join the Biobehavioral Imaging & Molecular Neuropsychopharmacology Section in Baltimore, Maryland.
We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher to investigate how drugs act in the brain and translate mechanistic discoveries into new therapeutic approaches. We seek a curious, rigorous, and collaborative scientist interested in connecting molecular pharmacology, brain function, and behavior. Our laboratory works at the interface of neuroscience, pharmacology and technology development. We combine complementary in vitro and in vivo approaches to identify drug mechanisms, evaluate candidate therapeutics, and develop tools for monitoring and modulating the brain. Current research spans substance use disorders, pain, and related neuropsychiatric conditions.
The fellow will develop and lead hypothesis-driven projects, design and execute experiments, analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts, and communicate findings at scientific meetings. We welcome candidates who bring new ideas and complementary expertise to the laboratory's research program.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree and have a strong research background in one or more relevant areas, including behavioral pharmacology/ neuroscience, receptor pharmacology and cellular assays, molecular biology, synthetic biology, electrophysiology, neuromodulation, and molecular neuroimaging.
An interest in mentoring and training junior scientists is also valued.
