Job description

The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) belongs to the „Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. (FVB)“. The FVB is an institution of seven natural sciences research institutes in Berlin funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the association of its federal states. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz association.

The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) in Berlin is a non-university research institute that conducts basic research in molecular pharmacology and provides a vibrant and collaborative environment with state‑of‑the‑art facilities for research and employees from all over the world.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Biochemistry‑Proteomics (f/m/d) (Ref 01/2026).

The successful candidate will collaboratively apply and develop proteomic approaches to study the protein composition of organelles at the nanoscale level to unravel how cellular organelle networks are rewired in response to physiological or pathophysiological stimuli. The project will be conducted jointly with the “Structural Interactomics Group” led by Prof. Fan Liu (https://www.theliulab.com) at FMP. The position is to be filled as soon as possible and initially limited to two years.

The main focus of the Haucke lab (www.leibniz-fmp.de/haucke) is on the endolysosomal system that we study at multiple levels of analysis using a combination of biochemical/structural biological, genetic, and cell biological approaches [Lo et al Haucke, Nat Chem Biol 19, 18‑27; Ebner et al Haucke, V. (2023) Cell 186, 5328‑5346. doi: 10.1016/j.cell.2023.09.027; Lo et al Haucke (2022) Nat Struct Mol Biol. 29, 218‑228; Jang et al Haucke, V. (2022) Science 378, eabq5209. DOI: 10.1126/science.abq5209]. Current projects are supported by third‑party grants including the European Research Council (ERC) and the German National Funding Agency (DFG).

Your profile

We seek highly motivated, ambitious, and talented young scientists to join an enthusiastic and collaborative team in an outstanding scientific environment to perform research.

  • Ph D in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Proteomics, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of education and extensive practical experience.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in proteomics with a proven track record of accomplishment, ideally involving low‑abundance sample applications.
  • 5+ years of practical experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting LC‑MS instrumentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing automated sample handling and data processing pipelines for high‑throughput analyses.
  • Proven experience managing laboratory operations, including quality system implementation, documentation and method validation.
We offer
  • An attractive environment in a pleasant, friendly working atmosphere with an excellent infrastructure.
  • Compensation in accordance with the public collective bargaining agreement (TVöD Bund) including the usual social benefits, i.e. 30 days of vacation, annual bonus, company pension plan with the Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL).
  • In‑house support for Fellowship applications.
  • Work‑life balance (certified by Audit Beruf und Familie) as well as flexible working hours and the possibility of mobile working.
  • Health offers on campus (courses, fitness centre, etc.).
  • Mobility offers such as job ticket, campus bikes and Jelbi station on campus.

We offer equal opportunities regardless of gender and welcome applications of disabled candidates. They will be preferred in case of equal qualification. We welcome applications from all backgrounds. We take and share responsibility: The Haucke lab is the first certified green lab in Germany.
