The Postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • Previous experience in laboratory setting and protocol development
  • Demonstrated evidence of publications in the field and excellent presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good data management, analytical and computer skills
  • Ability to design, execute and write up experimental work independently
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Proven ability to work effectively and responsibly without close supervision
  • Experience in lipid or other nanoparticle formulations with loaded and conjugated payloads will be particularly considered
  • Experience in genomics/transcriptomics sample prep, equipment usage, and analysis will be particularly considered
  • Experience using flow cytometry and related fluorescence bio-imaging techniques with ability to maintain equipment and train new users
  • Commitment to own continuous professional development particularly in regard to knowledge and applications of flow cytometry and related bioimaging equipment usage and analysis techniques
Duties and Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of a regular faculty member and Chair of the department, who serve as a mentor to the Fellow. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work to support ongoing projects in the laboratory, and support additional maintenance, projects and training needs of flow cytometry and Imagestream for the department. Opportunities to publish the results of research or scholarship during the period of appointment. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow serving the Richardson lab and providing technical support to the department flow cytometry equipment, main duties will include:

  • Maintain stocks, resources, and equipment in the lab and related equipment in department used by the lab, as appropriate
  • Keep informed of recent advances in the field
  • Conduct and supervise junior researchers in a program of investigation along with the supervisor/principal investigator, as appropriate
  • Evaluate methods and techniques used and results obtained by other researchers and to relate such evaluations appropriately to their own work
  • Communicate or present research results through publication or other recognized forms of output
  • Contribute to the supervision of junior researchers, as appropriate
  • Maintain own continuing professional development and act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues, as appropriate
  • Maintain a safe work environment, including ensuring compliance with legislation and undertaking of risk assessments
  • Use, maintain, and train others in the department flow cytometry and related bioimaging fluidics based equipment
  • Analyze and interpret flow cytometry and bioimaging fluidics based results and data related to projects in the lab
  • Maintain autoclaves for compliant usage
