Brigham and Women's Hospital seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Medical Chronobiology Program. The candidate will investigate how biological sex impacts metabolic responses to circadian misalignment, an important factor for night shift workers. This research will bridge human metabolism and circadian biology.
The role requires a PhD or MD, with strong experimental skills and a commitment to research quality. Start date is immediate; position is initially for two years. Equal Opportunity Employer.
Medical Chronobiology Program (MCP) in the Division of Sleep and Circadian Medicine at Brigham and Women\u2019s Hospital and Harvard Medical School invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join an interdisciplinary research project investigating how biological sex modulates the metabolic consequences of circadian misalignment, with the long-term goal of informing sex-specific interventions for night shift workers. Shift work is common across many sectors and is associated with increased risk for metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes. A major contributor to these risks is circadian misalignment, the mismatch between behavioral/environmental cycles and the body\u2019s internal circadian system.
Although sex differences in circadian physiology and metabolism are well established, relatively few controlled human experimental studies have examined whether males and females differ in their metabolic responses to circadian misalignment. The successful candidate will contribute to a randomized, controlled, cross-over laboratory study comparing circadian alignment and circadian misalignment in males and females. The selected candidate will work under the co-supervision of Dr. Jingyi Qian and Dr. Frank A.J.L. Scheer.

Expected start date: immediate, or soon thereafter. The initial appointments will be for 2 years, renewable annually thereafter.
