Job summary

The University of Minnesota in Twin Cities invites applications for a one-year, full-time post-doctoral associate in Mechanical Engineering. The position focuses on high-level theoretical and numerical research, developing CFD codes/modules for electrochemical processes, with potential extension depending on performance and funding.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, lead proposal development, contribute to publications, and assist with teaching and mentoring graduate students

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computational Science & Engineering, or closely related field with strong emphasis on high-fidelity CFD.
  • Experience in advanced CFD solver development, algorithm improvement, and numerical methods for highly coupled, stiff PDEs.
  • Expertise in multiphase flows and stiff chemistry/transport terms in reacting flows; proficiency in C++/Java/Fortran 90, Python/MATLAB, and MPI-based parallel computing.
  • Strong publication record as first author in peer-reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high level theoretical and numerical research and data analysis (55%).
  • Prepare publications, proposals, and presentations (20%).
  • Mentor PhD and MSME students (10%).
  • Organize and manage laboratory operations (10%).
  • Other duties as assigned (5%).
