The Chand Lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at theUniversity at Buffalo (UB) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Experimental QuantumScience and Quantum Sensing.
Our research focuses on developing scalable, multiplexedquantum-sensing platforms based on solid-state spin qubits, particularly nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. We aredeveloping next-generation experimental platforms that combineoptical microscopy, microwave and radio-frequency (RF) control, spatially selective optical addressing using acousto-opticdeflectors (AODs), spatial light modulators (SLMs), and digitalmicromirror devices (DMDs), advanced quantum-control protocols,high-sensitivity imaging, and automated measurement and feedback.Amajor goal is to scale quantum experiments from hundreds towardthousands of individually controlled quantum sensors, with along-term objective of developing platforms approaching 10,000qubits and applying these capabilities to the study of quantummaterials and quantum devices.
Research directions include multiplexed quantum sensing,covariance- and correlation-based magnetometry, correlatedquantum-noise spectroscopy, quantum sensing of materials anddevices, nanoscale magnetic sensing, and AI-assisted large-scalequantum sensing and computational measurement approaches.
The successful candidate will have substantial flexibility to helpshape new research directions while contributing to the developmentof a next-generation experimental quantum-sensing laboratory atUB.
Specific responsibilities may include:
The position provides opportunities to develop independent researchdirections, mentor students, participate in interdisciplinarycollaborations, contribute to publications and research proposals, and help establish new experimental capabilities within the ChandLab.
Working at UB comes with benefits that exceed salary alone. Thereare personal rewards including comprehensive health and retirementplan options. We also focus on creating and sustaining a healthy mix of work, personal and academic pursuit – all in an effort tosupport your work-life effectiveness.
