Job summary

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) invites applications for a Post Doctoral Research Fellow in Madison, Wisconsin to engage in nutrient-use efficiency modeling within the EIDMRU. You will work with USDA-ARS scientists on calibration/validation of the RuFaS-SCM model and related decision-support tools.

The appointment is for one year, full-time, with a stipend of $79,200 per year; start date October 2026. Applicants must be U.S.

Qualifications

• PhD in Soil Science, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Hydrology, or related field.
• Degree received within the past five years or by Dec 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Apply RuFaS-SCM to support nutrient use efficiency.
• Calibrate/validate models using long-term USDA-ARS data.
• Evaluate crop and farm decision-support tools for runoff impacts.
• Collaborate with USDA-ARS and university scientists.
