Job summary

AMERICAN VACUUM SOCIETY INC. seeks a post-doctoral fellow to support DTRA/Nuclear Technologies Division initiatives. You will apply physics, engineering, and data science techniques to develop studies, modeling, and algorithms, working with a mentor and program managers. Fort Belvoir, VA relocation may be required.

You will collaborate across teams to evaluate research topics, support software development for wargaming tools, and contribute to a common M&S framework for decision support.

Qualifications

• PHYSICS or engineering background with data science/ML concepts.
• Ability to apply ML/AI methods to scientific problems and simulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support program management for modeling and simulation software development.
• Investigate scientific/tech areas under mentor guidance.
• Learn program management processes to guide research investments.
• Interact with operational units to understand needs and potential tech concepts.
• Evaluate technical proposals and research findings.
• Be flexible in learning concepts beyond a narrow specialty.
