Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow in the Infectious Diseases division to study early-life infection and immunity. The lab focuses on placental inflammation, neonatal innate immunity, and viral control, with collaborative access to core facilities and inter-lab partnerships.

The candidate should have a PhD/MD or equivalent, strong molecular biology skills, and independence to drive new projects with mentorship from the PI.

Qualifications

• PhD/MD or equivalent is required.
• Strong foundation in laboratory molecular biology, microbiology, cell culture and scientific communication.
• Additional expertise in immunology, flow cytometry, host-pathogen interactions, animal models, translational and/or computational approaches is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Develop the skills to become an independent scientist with mentorship.
• Design, execute, and record experiments; analyze data for decisions on future work.
• Research and improve methods; ensure protocol accuracy and reproducibility.
• Discuss insights with faculty; provide recommendations and analysis.
• Present research at meetings and seminars; develop critical review skills.
• Draft, write, and edit scientific reports, papers, abstracts, and grants.
• Progressively increase responsibilities with mentorship and fiscal administration.
• Maintain currency through education, literature, and seminars; engage with PI and team.
• Attend required training; ensure regulatory compliance with policies.
