Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania invites applications for the Penn Postdoctoral Training Program in the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications of Genetics and Genomics. Fellows pursue independent ELSI research within the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy in Philadelphia.

The fellowship provides a generous annual stipend and benefits, funds for books and travel, and may offer a Master of Science in Medical Ethics to enhance external grant competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) in hand or expected by the summer.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
• Bioethics experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Participate fully in the life of the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy.
• Engage with genetic medicine, science and ELSI communities at Penn.
• Pursue independent ELSI research and develop as a junior investigator.
• Pursue opportunities such as a Master of Science in Medical Ethics when aligned with goals.
