University of Virginia seeks multiple postdoctoral research associates to join the Chalfant laboratory in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology & Oncology. The positions are 12 months with possible renewal pending funding and performance, under the supervision of Dr. Charles E. Chalfant.

The lab has NIH and VA grants and focuses on RNA splicing and lipid signaling in cancer and related diseases. Candidates should have a PhD/MD by start date and strong research productivity.

Qualifications

  • PhD and/or MD by start date.
  • Background in molecular biology, lipid signaling, lipidomics, or RNA splicing.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-culturally.
  • Experience training others is a plus.
  • Develop molecular skills and assays including high-throughput drug discovery, secondary screening, cell models, and GEMMs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in lipid signaling and RNA splicing related to cancer, cardiovascular disease, wound healing, infectious disease, and diabetes.
  • Develop and apply molecular assays and models (e.g., high-throughput screening, GEMMs).
  • Collaborate with team members and contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation.
  • Operate under NIH/VA grant funding and adhere to lab safety and funding guidelines.
