Job summary
Battelle Energy Alliance seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Idaho National Laboratory to support analytical research in the ARL/MFC. You will design and operate systems using hazardous gases, perform radiological analyses, and contribute to reports and publications.
The role requires a PhD in a relevant field and experience with analytical methods, gas-phase chemistry, and radiological laboratories.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, Geology or closely related field; must be completed by appointment start and within last 5 years.
- Experience performing analytical measurements, calibrating/validating analytical equipment, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in experimental research involving reactive gases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with proven publications.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, qualify, and maintain experimental systems with engineers.
- Qualify to operate remote handling equipment with highly contaminated/radioactive materials.
- Perform hands-on work with radioactive systems in fume hoods/glove boxes.
- Develop chemical methods for sample collection and analysis.
- Analyze and report radiological samples.
- Collaborate with operations, leads, engineering, safety to support experiments.
- Produce high-quality technical reports, data packages, and peer-reviewed publications.
