Job summary

Flatiron Institute's ICC seeks postdoctoral researchers to develop and apply new theories, methods, and software for electronic structure and chemical dynamics in catalysis, contributing to a ten-year program in NYC.

FRF-Software roles may be offered for candidates whose interests align closely with software and coding efforts, with start dates in 2027 and potential housing support near ICC.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant field.
• Ability to perform original and outstanding theoretical/computational research in chemistry, materials science, condensed matter physics, ML, applied mathematics, or CS.
• Experience with computational methods, data analysis, software and algorithm development, modeling, ML, HPC, or scientific simulation; strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Performing theoretical and computational research
• Developing, implementing and maintaining scientific software
• Assisting in the organization of ICC and Flatiron-wide collaborative activities including seminars, workshops and meetings
• Actively participating in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and of presentations at scientific conferences
• Assisting in student mentorship
• Sharing expertise and providing training and guidance to ICC staff and visitors as needed
