Job summary

The Yoder Lab in the Department of Biology at California State University Northridge invites applicants for the role of postdoctoral research fellow. The successful applicant will collaborate on an NSF-funded project in ecological data science, refining and applying an analysis pipeline, TARDIS, to study plant populations’ responses to environmental variation over space and time.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in plant ecology or evolutionary biology, or be defending a dissertation

Qualifications

  • A doctorate with dissertation research in plant ecology, evolutionary biology, or related field, or planned defense before start.
  • Experience with data science and programming in R, especially with ecological/geospatial data.
  • Excellent written communication and familiarity with geographical ecology literature.

Responsibilities

  • Refine and apply the TARDIS analysis pipeline to ecological data.
  • Collaborate with CSUN PI and Yale University collaborators on project goals.
  • Develop and publish an R package for TARDIS.
  • Run simulation studies to evaluate pipeline capabilities.
  • Assist in managing a course-based undergraduate research experience building TARDIS models.
