Job summary

Michigan Technological University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Physics department to develop next‑generation cloud chamber technology for aerosol–cloud–precipitation interactions. The role leads chamber experiments, operates instrumentation, and collaborates with Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The candidate will also analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and present at conferences; familiarity with AI/ML tools, especially embodied AI, is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in atmospheric science, physics, engineering or related field.
• Experience in Laboratory studies.
• Familiarity with lab experiments, optics and AI/ML tools (embodied AI) is a plus.
• Ability to work in a laboratory and troubleshoot research instruments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support cloud chamber experiments and operate instrumentation.
• Conduct experiments and collect data.
• Prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Present research at national and international conferences.
• Collaborate with BNL scientists and MTU cloud chamber team.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and safety practices.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies.
