Position Summary

The Postdoctoral Researcher will support several externally fundedprojects aimed at improving hearing healthcare and communicationoutcomes for older adults underserved by traditional hearinghealthcare, including those living with dementia and those inlong-term care. The postdoc will be mentored by Dr. Dana Urbanski(gerontology, audiology, and public health), with opportunities tocollaborate across Indiana University’s aging research network.Projects are clinically motivated and span mixed methodsintervention development, usability testing, implementationresearch, and secondary data analysis. Opportunities exist todevelop and lead new projects in this topic area and to contributeto grant development.
The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to study design, mixedmethods data analysis, the preparation and submission of journalarticles, and the mentoring of students working on theprojects.

This position is based at Indiana University Bloomington in theDepartment of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, withopportunities for collaboration with the IU Bloomington School ofPublic Health, IU’s O’Neill School of Public and EnvironmentalAffairs, the Indiana University Center for Aging Research, and theUniversity of Minnesota School of Public Health.

Basic Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in public health,gerontology, communication sciences and disorders, speech andhearing sciences, or a related field at the time of appointment.Other key qualifications include strong written and communicationskills, publications and previous conference presentations, andexperience working with collaborative research teams.
