Responsibilities
  • Receives/Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments or projects under control or supervisory responsibility.
  • Recommends changes in research, testing or experimental procedures.
  • May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment.
  • May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
  • May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
  • Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.
  • May receive general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as required.
Project Description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston invites applications for a postdoctoral position. This appointment is for an initial term of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, contingent upon performance, mutual agreement, and funding availability. The tentative start date is September 1, 2026, though an earlier start date is possible.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will join Dr. Lutsko’s research group at the University of Houston. The candidate is expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, contribute to the department, college, and university, and actively engage in the academic community.

Responsibilities include giving lectures in departmental seminars, presenting research findings at national and international conferences, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students involved in the project.

MQ: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job‑related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.
