Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Department of Psychiatry within the New Jersey Medical School ( NJMS ).

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoctoral Associate will work at the Department of Psychiatry of Rutgers Health NJMS . This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of aging, cognition, and sociocultural determinants of health involving Latino aging cohorts; and to work with exercise intervention, with a particular focus on menopause research and women’s brain health. Postdoctoral Associate will play a key role in ongoing clinical trial on exercise research and developing studies investigating the interplay between longitudinal cognitive outcomes, neuroimaging and vascular risk factors using US big data.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Participate in lab meetings, research-in-progress seminars, data analysis, and presentations at conferences. Participate in the ACTIVE -BrainWoMen Trial data collection management, prepare manuscripts based on the lab research, aid in developing the PI’s grant applications, and will be expected to apply for personal grant funding.
  • Participate in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology, and coordination of the analytical and procedural functions with the research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Under supervision, assist in the conducting of a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, participate in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggest revisions where necessary, and propose new procedures where required.
  • As requested, assist in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’s compliance standards as they appear in Rutgers Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

    Minimum Education and Experience

    • PhD or MD in Health Sciences, Data Science/Informatics, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Neuroscience, Public Health, or related discipline.
    Certifications/Licenses
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Demonstrated experience working with human subject research, health science, technology and data science with strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
    • Oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate research findings to both academic and non-academic audiences.
    • Proficiency with standard office and data tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, coding (R or Python), reference managers).
    • Experience demonstrating solid judgment, organizational, planning, coordination, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
    • Candidate will be trained on Good Clinical Practices ( GCP ).
    • Be self-motivated and innovative with the ability to handle considerable and varied responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively and represent the university knowledgeably, articulately, and enthusiastically with an effective professional demeanor.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working with intervention and neuroimaging is desirable.
