Position Title and Location

Post-Doc Research Associate (Schrider) – Chapel Hill, NC. Duration: 12 months.

Position Summary

The Schrider Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a postdoctoral scholar in population genetics and/or phylogenetics. The successful candidate will design and carry out projects related to the following research areas:

• Development and application of computational methods to investigate the impacts of adaptation, recombination, introgression, and demographic changes on genetic diversity within and between species.
• Elucidation of phylogenetic relationships among species and genealogical relationships of individuals within a species.
• Study of evolutionary questions in mosquito genomes.
• Examination of evolutionary model dynamics, such as the evolution of therapeutic resistance in cancer, via simulation and/or analytical theory.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

PhD in Evolution, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Strong research background in evolutionary genetics and/or computational genomics. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement computational tools and statistical methods.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Highly motivated by team science and collaboration across disciplines. Experience with large genomic datasets and simulation modeling is a plus.
