Job summary

The City and County of San Francisco is recruiting Peace Officers with valid California POST certification to join the San Francisco Police Department. Officers will perform a wide range of duties to promote public safety, deter crime, and enforce laws in one of the country’s most iconic cities.

Minimum qualifications include POST certification, a high school diploma or GED (or higher degree), a valid California driver license, and being at least 21.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid California POST certificate or Basic Course Waiver (BCW).
• High School diploma or GED, or higher degree from a US accredited college or university.
• Must be at least 21 years old by appointment; valid California driver license throughout process.

Responsibilities

• Patrol districts to prevent and detect crime; respond to calls for assistance.
• Conduct criminal investigations; write reports and maintain records.
• Interact with community; pursue and arrest suspects; enforce traffic and parking laws.
• Prepare for court and give testimony; work with superiors and peers as a team.
• Fulfill other administrative duties when required.
