Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Positive Behavior Support Technician for the 3rd shift in Northern Kentucky. The role provides training, support, and crisis-response leadership for individuals with intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors, in a community-based program.

The successful candidate will implement Behavior Support Plans, run daily living skills activities, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team while ensuring dignity, safety, and person-centered care.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities with behavioral needs and mental health conditions.
• Valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance
• Experience providing care; toileting, bathing, etc. preferred
• Previous experience working with clients with high behaviors preferred

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development and positive implementation of individual’s plans.
• Facilitate consistent implementation of the Behavior Support Plan (BSP) and IST; implementing behavioral procedures as outlined to teach replacement skills and reduction of problematic behaviors through prevention and intervention while utilizing positive behavioral supports.
• Respond to emergency situations as trained utilizing all aspects of the Mandatory Training.
• Implement relational Mandatory training continuously to ensure a positive, engaged and therapeutic environment.
• Implement Technical Mandatory training only when safety is compromised (e.g., physical aggression) per training and only as needed.
• Assist persons supported in exploring interests and hobbies of their choice that can connect them to their community.
• Engage individuals in preferred in home activities continuously; staff should be attentive to individuals and the environment at all times.
• Provide transportation, utilizing VOA agency vehicles, to persons supported for daily activities.
• Serve as a mentor to persons supported and provide on-going coaching and encouragement.
• Teach meaningful daily living skills that increase independence, recreation, and socialization.
• Advocate for the needs, interests, and support of the person in your care.
• Complete all required documentation, including daily support notes and behavior data collection.
• Attend and be an active participant in scheduled meetings and trainings.
