Overview
Position: Business Development Executive. Location: Columbia, MD. Job number 360.
Summary: The Business Development Executive builds market position by researching, developing and establishing business relationships to facilitate locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business opportunities within the vertical structured cabling and security domain. The role manages the technology and sales support required throughout the sales cycle, identifies additional revenue opportunities, and continually builds the sales pipeline and backlog. The position provides sales support and ensures customer understanding of capabilities and satisfaction of FiberPlus, Inc. revenue objectives.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, build and maintain a pipeline of active and qualified accounts for installation and/or maintenance of commercial/secure facilities.
- Maintain the Customer Relationship Management Database (Sugar) daily to develop historical data for future pipeline, backlog and client/vendor history and to generate potential leads.
- Provide an estimating function for potential opportunities, coordinating with internal teams to present competitive proposals.
- Educate and advise clients regarding solutions to their points of pain.
- Meet and exceed established sales quotas.
- Engage in continuing education including sales training and knowledge of product and service offerings.
- Adapt FiberPlus Inc./CTS offerings to meet client business goals.
- Provide sales proposals, product demonstrations, and illustrate the benefits of FiberPlusInc/CTS solutions to clients and contractors.
- Prepare and deliver requested RFP documents in coordination with technical/design and estimating teams.
- Communicate sales activity and pipeline forecasts to the Head of Sales and Marketing on a weekly basis.
- Contact partners/clients and potential clients to answer questions and provide information and customer service as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in low voltage integration, with experience selling electronic security (e.g., CCTV, access control, security devices, intrusion detection, biometrics, voice systems) and cabling (fiber optic and copper).
- Experience with cabling or electrical firms in the Pennsylvania region is preferred. Knowledge of low voltage structured cabling and technology solutions is preferred, with experience in business development for commercial and/or federal markets.
- Ability to read construction, electrical and engineering drawings; proven sales volume in excess of $1 million per year.
- Strong client relationship skills and ability to influence decision makers; well-networked or able to develop networks within the cabling and security industry; trade affiliation membership is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow up with clients to close deals.
- Closing, prospecting, sales planning, and presentation skills; ability to work independently or in a team; strong customer service and communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; willingness to travel to customer sites and flexible working hours.
- Background check and/or government clearance may be required; clean driving record and DMV record on offer; drug screening required.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of equivalent experience. Certified Protection Professional is a major plus but not required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Position requires sitting, speaking, hearing, typing, and occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision and ability to focus on a computer monitor. Noise level is moderately quiet. Some travel to customer job sites may be required.
