Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks a Ports & Marine Structural Engineer in Miami, FL to perform analysis and design for deepwater ports and waterfront infrastructure. You will produce drawings and specifications for docks, mooring systems and bulkheads, and help develop construction plans with accurate cost estimates.

You will inspect waterfront structures, analyze site conditions, and liaise with clients and subconsultants while ensuring QA/QC of all deliverables. Travel 5–10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering required.
  • 3+ years of deepwater marine and waterfront infrastructure design experience.
  • Knowledge of UFC, PIANC and ASCE/COPRI standards.
  • Experience in structural design for concrete, steel, and timber waterfront structures.
  • Familiarity with STAAD and/or SAP2000 for analysis and design.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit; mooring analysis tools like Optimoor/OrcaFlex.
  • Travel 5–10%; EIT certification required.

Ports & Marine Structural Engineer

We are seeking a Ports & Marine Structural Engineer to join us in Miami, FL.

Your role

Perform engineering analysis and design, and production of engineering drawings and specifications for ports, marine and coastal structures including docks, piers, wharves, bulkhead, mooring and breasting dolphins, trestles and shoreside platforms for deepwater cruise and cargo ports, liquid and dry bulk terminals, shipyard and other waterfront and marine infrastructure.

  • Perform inspection and condition assessment of ports and waterfront infrastructure.
  • Perform engineering analysis and design, assist with the development of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Conduct data acquisition and analysis, researching the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations.
  • Work involves coordination, research and problem solving on a variety of engineering projects with unique or controversial problems, the solution of which has an important effect on major organization programs.
  • Work closely with designers, other discipline engineers and project manager as part of a multidisciplinary project delivery team. Interface with the clients, subconsultants and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are reviewed in accordance with corporate QA/QC procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support evolving business priorities.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (minimum required), Master's Degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in deepwater marine and waterfront infrastructure design, preferably with a consulting firm.
  • Knowledge of waterfront design codes and standards such as UFC, PIANC and ASCE/ COPRI.
  • Experience in structural design and analysis for waterfront and marine structures, including the use of concrete, steel, and timber structures. Experience in finite element analysis tools such as STAAD and/ or SAP2000.
  • Experience in use of drafting software such as AutoCAD and/ or Revit. Experience with mooring analysis using Optimoor, Orca flex, or comparable commercial software, as well as with calculations for ship mooring and berthing forces, including wave force modelling for moored ships.
  • Preferred exposure in analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation, piles and sheet pile wall bulkhead using analysis tools such as LPile, CWALSHT and DeepEx.
  • Domestic and international travel required 5%-10% of the time.
  • EIT Required.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $90,000-$115,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
