Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Portfolio Manager I for its Digital Assets Group in the Phoenix area. You will analyze, structure, underwrite, and onboard Blockchain and Digital Asset Business Deposit Accounts while ensuring policy compliance and risk monitoring.

You will work with the Commercial Banker leadership to gather information, prepare financing requests for senior management, and support underwriting and deposit closing to meet regional goals.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related experience in Portfolio Management or similar field
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Experience with Commercial Banking Portfolio Management is highly preferred
  • Experience with KYC is preferred
  • Experience with Digital Assets is preferred
  • Knowledge of banking operations, regulatory compliance and loan structuring

  • Manage deposits to monitor and identify customer and sector-related risks
  • Assist in underwriting and closing desirable deposits to meet bank goals

  • Coordinate processing of approved deposits and related servicing within Relationship Managers portfolio

What You'll Do

The Digital Assets Group Portfolio Manager position is responsible for analyzing, structuring, underwriting, and coordinating the onboard of Blockchain and Digital Asset Business Deposit Accounts in compliance with the Bank's Digital Asset Group policies and procedures. The Portfolio Manager will manage deposits to ensure customer and sector-related risks are responsibly monitored and identified. This position will assist in attaining established Bank, region, and branch goals through active participation in underwriting and closing desirable deposits. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for assuring compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

  • Along with the Vice President, Commercial Banker interface with clients in-person, over the phone and email in order to assess their credit needs and determine the best structure and items needed for analysis.
  • Gather and analyze necessary information to present along with the Relationship Manager, a financing request to senior management or Loan Committee for approval.
  • Coordinate processing of approved loans; ensure loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtain sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; assist in solving problems relative to processing and servicing of loans within the Relationship Managers portfolio.
  • Reinforce superior customer service through your own example along with appropriate follow-through with involved customers and employees.
  • Handle various other underwriting, portfolio management and upkeep tasks and responsibilities related to new loan requests and/or the existing Relationship Managers portfolio.

What You'll Need
  • 4+ years of related experience in Portfolio Management or similar field, within banking.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Experience with Commercial Banking Portfolio Management is highly preferred.
  • Experience with KYC (know your customer) is preferred.
  • Experience with Digital Assets is preferred.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
  • Entry level to intermediate knowledge of commercial credit and loan structuring, and pricing dynamics. Credit analyst training completed.
  • Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
