Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an ABL Portfolio Manager to partner with Relationship Managers and Business Development Officers to manage a diverse portfolio of ABL credits, monitor risk, and support underwriting and transaction execution.

You will deepen client relationships, escalate risk as needed, negotiate documentation, and mentor junior teammates in a fast-paced, hybrid environment with an in-office expectation of 3+ days per week.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience.
  • Three or more years of ABL portfolio management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of ABL commercial/corporate lending and credit standards.
  • Strong relationship management and business development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of ABL credits, including direct/agented facilities and purchased participations.
  • Monitor and manage credit risk across all assigned customer relationships.
  • Ensure full adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond promptly to customer credit requests and underwrite ancillary exposure.
  • Assist Underwriting with new business transactions as needed.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings to deepen relationships and identify cross-sell opportunities.
  • Escalate credit concerns to senior management and coordinate with legal documentation.
  • Partner with operations, field examination, appraisal, and compliance teams for reporting and loan monitoring.
  • Mentor and train junior team members within the ABL team.

Job Description

The ABL Portfolio Manager partners closely with Relationship Managers and Business Development Officers to effectively manage a portfolio of ABL credit relationships. The role supports revenue growth by deepening existing customer relationships and collaborating with Underwriting to close new business opportunities. Manages an assigned portfolio by monitoring credit risk, ensuring compliance, and supporting customer credit needs through underwriting and transaction execution while partnering with internal teams. Builds and maintains strong customer relationships, escalates risk concerns, collaborates across functions, and supports team development through mentoring and training.

  • Respond promptly to customer credit requests.

  • Assist the Underwriting team with new business transactions, as needed.
  • Customer Relationship Development
  • Conduct regular customer meetings to deepen relationships and identify cross sell or expansion opportunities.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for credit related discussions and problem resolution.
  • Internal Communication & Collaboration
  • Escalate credit concerns clearly and efficiently to senior management.
  • Review, negotiate, and coordinate legal documentation with customers, counsel, and internal partners.
  • Partner with operations, field examination, appraisal, and compliance teams to ensure accurate reporting and loan monitoring.
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Mentor and provide training support to junior team members, contributing to the development of the broader ABL team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience.
  • Three or more years of ABL portfolio management experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of ABL commercial/corporate lending and credit standards, policies, procedures and products, including financial statements, field exams, appraisals, and borrowing bases.
  • Strong relationship management and business development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $148,495.00 - $174,700.00
