Job summary

Bankwell, a Connecticut-based commercial bank, seeks a Portfolio Manager to support the Private Client Team in managing and growing CRE and C&I client relationships. The role oversees the loan portfolio and depository relationships while delivering exceptional client service on behalf of the Private Client Team.

The successful candidate has at least 5 years of CRE banking experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Qualifications

  • Monitor credit performance and remediate as needed.
  • Prepare credit/loan documentation and organize data.
  • Collect monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements from borrowers.
  • Track covenants and non-performing or delinquent loans.
  • Review loan files for risk ratings and documentation.
  • Participate in client meetings and cross-sell bank products.
  • Engage in special projects as needed.

Summary of Position:

The Portfolio Manager supports the Private Client Team in managing and growing existing CRE and C&I client relationships and assisting with new client relationships. Note – this Portfolio Manager role will also have a meaningful concentration of Real Estate and C&I clients to support. This position is responsible for actively managing and providing oversight of the loan portfolio and depository relationships, while providing excellent customer service on behalf of the Private Client Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supportthe Private Client Team with managing loan and depository relationships.
  • Analyze and review financial information to assess the financial strength and creditworthiness of lending relationships at origination and on an ongoing basis. Spread financial statements and prepare financial models designed to sensitize various conditions impacting the proposed transaction. Prepare cash flow, collateral schedules, covenant sensitivity calculations, financial models, and guarantor statement analysis.
  • Monitor credit performance of customer portfolios and elevate or remediate, as appropriate.
  • Prepare credit and loan documentation by accurately compiling and organizing financial data, credit histories, and collateral information.
  • Assist in the collection of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements from borrowers and guarantors, as required.
  • Track covenant compliance and provide necessary documentation.
  • Track and manage non-performing, underperforming or delinquent loans, if applicable.
  • Review loan files to ensure that risk ratings are appropriate and preparedocumentation to support any recommended changes.
  • Participatein client meetings.
  • Cross-sell additional bank products and services.
  • Participatein special projects, as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimumof 5 years of relevant CRE commercial banking experience. Experience inthe C&I sector is a strong plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite with an emphasis on Excel and Word
  • Proficiency with Abrigo, Hubspot, Klarivis, Microsoft Copilot 365 is a plus
  • Extensiveknowledge of credit products offered and regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical skills in order to evaluate credit and financial issues
  • Strong client interface skills.
  • Able to contribute positively as part of a team
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong will to help others
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thrives in a high-pressured environment and has the ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Performs assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis
  • Ability to recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Adheres to all applicable Policies and Procedures
  • Bachelor’sdegree preferred
