Job description

The Financial Discovery Group, Inc. is a fee only financial planning and comprehensive wealth management firm founded in 1996. We serve high-net-worth individuals and families through trusted relationships, highly personalized service, and a steadfast fiduciary commitment to our clients.

As a Portfolio Manager you will work closely with our senior partners to construct, monitor, and optimize portfolios aligned with client objectives, risk tolerance, and market conditions. You will also help communicate our investment strategy and recommendations to clients via phone, video, in-person meetings, and email. This role goes beyond portfolio management; it’s about helping people make important financial decisions with greater clarity and feeling in control.

At a small, independent RIA, your contributions can have an outsized impact. We value independent thinking, sound judgment, and initiative. You’ll have the latitude to make decisions, develop meaningful client relationships, and contribute ideas that shape our investment approach, client experience, processes, and future growth.

What We Offer
  • Flexible balance between remote and in-office work
  • Friendly, welcoming, and collaborative office environment
  • Positive, long-standing relationships with wonderful clients
  • SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with employer contribution
  • Competitive PTO/Holiday policy
  • Cell phone stipend
  • Significant equity participation potential
Why Join Financial Discovery Group?

We believe great advice starts with great relationships. Our team is collaborative, thoughtful, and committed to doing what is right for our clients.

Because we are a small, independent firm, you matter. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, share ideas, take ownership, and see the direct impact of your work on our clients and our firm. We’re looking for someone who is curious, thoughtful, and eager to contribute—not simply someone looking for a job managing portfolios.

This role is an excellent fit for someone who thrives in a relationship-driven environment, communicates with clarity and empathy, takes ownership of outcomes, and wants to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of an independent wealth management firm.

Responsibilities
  • Construct and perform ongoing management of diversified client portfolios across publicly-traded asset classes
  • Prepare materials for and participate in client meetings including communicating portfolio strategy and investment recommendations
  • Conduct rebalancing activities and trade implementation
  • Monitor macroeconomic trends, market developments, and evolving investment strategies
  • Conduct due diligence on existing and prospective fund investments
  • Prepare regular client investment communications, including quarterly reports, market commentary, and research updates.
  • Perform compliance activities related to investments
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field (CFA and/or CFP designation or progress toward certification preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment management, research, or a related role
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, asset allocation, and portfolio construction, and investment principles
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills along with a strong commitment to exceptional client service
  • Ability to synthesize complex investment concepts into clear and useful guidance for clients
  • Self-motivated; take initiative to identify opportunities and develop and implement strategies
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to fiduciary responsibility
  • Interpersonal skills with an approachable and professional demeanor
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work cross-functionally as part of a small close-knit team
