Job summary

SYNC at Harmony is seeking a Porter to join our service team. This role involves outdoor work in all weather, cleaning exterior spaces, managing waste, and supporting make-ready processes to maintain peak presentation across the community.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, be comfortable outdoors, and possess a valid driver’s license. Weekend hours are required, and experience in janitorial/groundskeeping is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must work one weekend per month for grounds/amenities hours.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Job Description

SYNC at Harmony is seeking a Porter to join our service team! Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, have a positive attitude, and be customer service oriented.

A Day in the Life of a Porter with SYNC Residential
  • Walking all grounds, parking lots or garages, pool areas, amenity spaces, and common areas to remove all waste items and ensure the community is at peak presentation
  • Managing and moving trash compactors and dumpsters based on community collection schedule
  • Completing power washing and other similar preventative maintenance projects as assigned
  • Emptying garbage receptacles and pet waste stations throughout community
  • Cleaning pet park and removing pet waste
  • Monitoring and reporting concerns on landscaping and irrigation system conditions on behalf of the service team
  • Entering work orders for any noted areas throughout the community that need attention
  • Assisting in the make ready process as needed
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Duties:
  • Responsible daily for picking up and cleaning the entire community exterior including amenities and common areas using company-supplied materials and equipment and following manufacturer’s directions for same. Ensures peak appearance of the property exterior at all times. Provides non-technical support to other on-site staff positions. This is a line position with indirect impact on company funds.
  • Cleans and picks up trash from around trash dumpster, ensuring a clean and tidy appearance at all times.
  • Cleans and arranges furniture and trash receptacles in pool area(s). Possesses pool operator’s certificate. Tests chemical level of pool water on daily basis and checks to maintain proper chemical balance. Follows manufacturer’s directions for use of company-supplied materials and equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains club facilities in an orderly, presentable and decorative fashion.
  • Maintains cleanliness of office and all other amenity and common area facilities assuring general cleanliness of grounds, laundry rooms, walkways, streets, driveways, parking lots, entrances, foyers, breezeways, recreational areas, etc. May perform exterior building light checks and assist with repairs and replacement of same.
  • Performs supplemental landscape maintenance and irrigation system repair and/or supplemental watering of lawn and landscape areas so that landscape areas are tidy, trimmed and properly watered. May be required, in the absence of separate yard crew or outside landscape maintenance contractor, to perform extensive in-house landscape and gardening duties such as mowing, edging, trimming, sweeping, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, planting, etc as needed.
  • Thoroughly cleans out vacated apartments designated by supervisor and prepares same for make-ready and re-renting, including carpet repairs, dyeing and shampooing as needed.
  • Incorporates both safety and customer service in the performance of all job duties.
  • Maintains consistent and punctual attendance record.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.
MARGINAL DUTIES
  • Removes, relocates and/or installs furniture and other household items in designated apartments or buildings designated by supervisor.
  • Supports unscheduled maintenance on an “as needed” basis (i.e., digging ditches, breaking up concrete, lifting a/c compressors, etc.
  • Posts notices as required or instructed by supervisor.
  • Travels to suppliers to pick up part and supplies as directed.

Experience and Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED
  • General janitorial, groundskeeping, or porter experience preferred
