Role Description

The Porter role is a full-time, on-site position at Hendrick Volvo Cars of Charleston in Charleston County, SC. The Porter is responsible for moving, parking, and organizing vehicles on the lot, ensuring a clean and orderly appearance for customers and team members. Daily tasks include transporting vehicles for service and detailing, assisting with vehicle check-in and check-out, and maintaining cleanliness in service and parking areas. The role may also support the service and sales teams by greeting customers, directing them to appropriate staff members, and helping with light facility upkeep. This position is customer-facing and requires a professional, courteous presence at all times.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication skills for interacting with customers and team members clearly and professionally.
• Customer Service skills to provide courteous assistance, direct visitors, and support a positive dealership experience.
• Ability to serve as a Gatekeeper, managing vehicle flow, directing traffic in service and sales areas, and guiding customers to the correct departments.
• Training and Education in safe driving practices and basic automotive or dealership operations is beneficial.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
• Reliability and attention to detail in vehicle placement, lot organization, and cleanliness standards.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in an automotive, retail, or customer-focused environment is a plus.
