Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is seeking a skilled technician to perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and service of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment at customer sites. The role requires working independently, a focus on safety, and strong documentation practices.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in fire and life safety, NICET I or higher preferred, and a valid driver’s license. Training and career development are offered as part of a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as an apprentice or technician.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.
• Strong understanding of portable fire protection equipment and applicable codes.
• Must have a clean driving record and an active driver’s license (if driving role).

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and servicing of portable fire extinguishers and related equipment independently.

• Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required.

• Maintain and properly use tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
• Travel to job sites as required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete standard service calls without direct supervision while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Conduct annual inspections, maintenance, and assist with testing as required.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures.
• Accurately document services performed, including tagging and reporting.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and supervisors.
• Maintain and properly use tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job status and findings.
• Maintain a high level of safety awareness and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Perform work in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Perform lifting, climbing ladders, and work in various environments.

Pay & Benefits

$23/hr - $29/hr (Depending on Experience)
