Job summary

Mainstay Maritime is seeking an experienced Port Engineer to oversee the safe, reliable operation of the Great Lakes fleet. You will lead maintenance planning, repair projects, and regulatory compliance, coordinating with crews, shipyards, and vendors to ensure availability and cost efficiency.

The role requires strong marine engineering knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to balance operational priorities with asset reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or related field.
  • 5–10 years of marine engineering, vessel maintenance, or shipyard experience.
  • Experience with vessel repair projects and contractors.
  • Experience managing budgets and coordinating with shipyards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preventive maintenance for ships, tugboats, and barges.
  • Plan and manage dry dock projects and repair scopes of work.
  • Coordinate vessel maintenance with crews, yards, and vendors.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and documentation.
  • Monitor budgets and contractor performance; drive safety improvements.
