Job summary

McCracken County Public Schools in Paducah, Kentucky seeks a School Resource Officer (SRO) to perform district-wide law enforcement duties with emphasis on safety in schools. This full-time role requires POPS certification and the ability to obtain Kentucky Peace Officers certification within one year.

The SRO will enforce state statutes, prepare detailed reports, maintain equipment, coordinate with staff and students, and participate in trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; progress toward GED acceptable per Kentucky law.
• Specialized coursework in law enforcement.
• Knowledge of state statutes and related regulations.
• Ability to obtain Kentucky Peace Officers certification within one year of hire.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of law enforcement activities for an assigned District.
• Prepare and maintain accurate reports of crimes, vehicular accidents and other incidents.
• Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents and community members.
• Attend training and maintain certification and commission as required by law.
