Cook Children’s Medical Center is seeking a Staff Speech Pathologist to provide in-patient and/or out-patient services for pediatric patients, focusing on functional skills to aid development and reduce disability from illnesses or injuries. The role includes evaluation, treatment, and home programming for speech and language disorders.

The position requires a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology, state licensure or eligibility, and a CCC-SLP credential or CFY eligibility with certification

Qualifications

• Masters degree in speech-language pathology.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
• State license or eligible for state licensure.
• CCC-SLP certificate or eligible to apply after CFY; must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Responsabilités

• Provide in-patient and/or out-patient speech-language pathology services focusing on functional skills to enhance development and restore function.
• Perform evaluation, treatment and home programming for pediatric feeding/swallowing, articulation, voice, resonance and language disorders.
• Include aural rehabilitation/advanced communication options for hearing loss or cochlear implant and evaluate augmentative communication devices.
• Educate patients and caregivers and consult with other professionals and clinics within Cook Children’s Health Care System.
• Document and communicate findings per department and system policies.

Summary: The Staff Speech Pathologists will have the education, knowledge and skill to provide in-patient and/or out-patient services, focusing on functional skills to enhance development, restore function and to prevent disability from pediatric conditions, illness and injury. Evaluation, treatment and home programming are provided for children with: feeding and swallowing disorders, articulation, voice, resonance, and fluency, and receptive/expressive language disorders. Also includes aural rehabilitation/auditory verbal therapy for hearing loss or cochlear implant, and evaluation for augmentative communication devices. The position shall include patient and caregiver education and consultation to other professionals, clinics and agencies, both within Cook Childrens Health Care System and within the community. Documentation and correspondence pertaining to these services shall follow department and system policies.

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in speech/language pathology.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment required.
• State license or eligible for state licensure.
• Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech/Language Pathology, or eligible for application upon completion of Clinical Fellowship Year and must be obtained within 12 months of hire to maintain employment at Cook.
