Job summary

SPS PoolCare is hiring a Pool Maintenance Specialist Trainee to support cleaning, chemical balancing, and water testing at client sites in Michigan. You will assist experienced staff in maintaining pools and related facilities while learning proper chemical handling and recordkeeping.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience, with strength for physical work including lifting up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of filled pools and facilities.
• Skim, vacuum, and perform chemical treatments to maintain water quality.
• Support testing of pool water for pH, chlorine, and contaminants.
• Learn proper chemical handling and balance under supervision.
• Maintain daily logs of chemical usage and water measurements.

Job description

The Pool Maintenance Specialist Trainee will maintain pools at client's and associated facilities for the company.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists Pool Maintenance Specialist to clean and maintain filled pools and facilities by skimming, vacuuming, and performing chemical treatments.
• Periodically empties pools to perform deep cleaning, including brushing and scrubbing walls, floors, and surfaces.
• Assists Pool Service Specialist to regularly test pool water for pH; chlorine; presence of bacteria, algae, or contaminants; and other data.
• Receives training from the Pool Service Specialist to ensure correct color, chemistry, and clarity of pool water.
• Calculates and adds chemical treatments to maintain pH balance, eliminate contaminants, or correct other problems.
• Inspects pool and equipment.
• Assists Pool Service Specialist to complete and maintain daily logs outlining chemical usage, water quality, repairs, and supplies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Mechanical and manual labor skills related to aquatic facilities and equipment.
• Math skills to calculate chemical additives and ratios.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience required.
• Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.
• Must have adequate sight and hearing to properly interpret water analysis, equipment readings, and complete recordkeeping.
• Physically able to perform all aspects of cleaning, checking, and monitoring pools and facilities.
