Job summary

SPS PoolCare in Cave Creek, AZ is seeking a Pool Maintenance Specialist Trainee to join our team. You will assist a Pool Maintenance Specialist in cleaning and maintaining client pools and facilities, perform water quality tests, and apply chemical treatments to ensure safe, clean water.

The role involves learning through hands-on training, lifting up to 80 pounds, and contributing to daily logs and routine maintenance tasks for multiple properties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year of related experience is required.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 80 pounds and performing manual pool maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pool Maintenance Specialist with cleaning and maintaining filled pools and facilities.
• Test pool water for pH, chlorine, bacteria, algae, and contaminants; record results.
• Perform chemical treatments to balance water chemistry.
• Conduct deep cleaning by brushing and scrubbing pool walls, floors, and surfaces.
• Assist with daily logs of chemical usage, water quality, repairs, and supplies.
• Inspect pool equipment and assist with routine maintenance.
• Support training from Pool Service Specialist to ensure proper water quality and clarity.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Job description

The Pool Maintenance Specialist Trainee will maintain pools at client’s and associated facilities for the company.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists Pool Maintenance Specialist to clean and maintain filled pools and facilities by skimming, vacuuming, and performing chemical treatments.
• Periodically empties pools to perform deep cleaning, including brushing and scrubbing walls, floors, and surfaces.
• Assists Pool Service Specialist to regularly test pool water for pH; chlorine; presence of bacteria, algae, or contaminants; and other data.
• Receives training from the Pool Service Specialist to ensure correct color, chemistry, and clarity of pool water.
• Calculates and adds chemical treatments to maintain pH balance, eliminate contaminants, or correct other problems.
• Inspects pool and equipment.
• Assists Pool Service Specialist to complete and maintain daily logs outlining chemical usage, water quality, repairs, and supplies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Understanding of pool cleaning chemicals and equipment related to swimming pools.
• Mechanical and manual labor skills related to aquatic facilities and equipment.
• Math skills to calculate chemical additives and ratios.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of related experience required.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at a time.
• Must have adequate sight and hearing to properly interpret water analysis, equipment readings, and complete recordkeeping.
• Physically able to perform all aspects of cleaning, checking, and monitoring pools and facilities.
