Job summary

City of Pocatello is seeking seasonal staff to perform a range of duties at parks and facilities, including pool cleaning at the Ross Park Aquatics Complex and general maintenance of buildings and infrastructure. The role requires the ability to operate hand and power tools safely and work with others to support public spaces.

The position is seasonal, with varying shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends, and applicants must be at least 15 years old.

Qualifications

• Must be 15 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two to five years of experience may be required.
• Specialized certifications, construction and/or supervisory experience may be required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs general pool cleaning duties at the Ross Park Aquatics Complex as assigned including vacuuming pools, scrubbing pool tiles, hosing off decks, cleaning slide tower, checking skimmers, patching and inflating tubes, picking up trash, and performing other light maintenance duties.

Job Description

Perform manual, skilled, and unskilled labor in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of grounds and facilities at and around City parks/facilities and on or adjacent to public rights-of-way. Performs general construction, maintenance, and repairs to a wide array of City buildings and infrastructure. This position requires applicants to be 15 years of age or older. The job requires working knowledge of construction and landscape techniques and general cleaning and janitorial methods. The job requires the ability to utilize hand and power tools in a safe manner. The job requires the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and appointed officials, other City employees, other organizations, and the general public. Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, in wet and humid conditions, with areas of dust, odors, mist, gases or other airborne matter. Employees work in/at places where they are exposed to mechanical hazards. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. This position works days, evenings, and weekends as required.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

• Applicant must be 15 years of age or older;
• High school diploma or GED preferred;
• Two (2) to five (5) years of experience may be required;
• Specialized certifications, construction and/or supervisory

experience may be required;

An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities To Successfully Perform The essential functions of the position may be considered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
