Job Summary:

The Pool Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the pool area to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for guests. All duties must align with Mount Airy Casino Resort’s policies, internal standards, and safety objectives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Provide courteous service to guests.
2. Monitor the pool area continuously to ensure guest safety.
3. Keep the pool deck clean and slip-resistant.
4. Maintain visibility with pool guests at all times.
5. Clean all areas, including sweeping, trash removal, and wiping tables.
6. Be aware of surroundings in indoor, outdoor, and deck areas.
7. Maintain furniture, towels, and trash bins, including emptying ashtrays and garbage cans regularly.
8. Clean and restock restrooms.
9. Remove debris from planters.
10. Retrieve and return used cups and plates to the kitchen.
11. Assist with packaging and delivering "to-go" orders as needed.
12. Transport food from the kitchen to guests promptly and accurately.
13. Follow all safety and health standards set by Mount Airy Casino Resort.
14. Adhere to schedules and attend mandatory meetings.
15. Understand and follow staff privileges and responsibilities.
16. Wear uniform as required.
17. Work flexible shifts.
18. Maintain professionalism in appearance and behavior.
19. Foster a teamwork-oriented environment.
20. Keep the server’s station clean and sanitary.
21. Be knowledgeable about casino promotions and events to assist guests.
22. Meet attendance and policy guidelines.
23. Attend training sessions and stay prepared to apply new skills.

Additional Duties:

• Perform reaching, lifting, bending, and cleaning tasks.
• Stand and walk throughout shifts.
• Communicate effectively in English.
• Create positive guest impressions.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards.
• Handle food and beverage orders, including cash handling and communication at the service bar.
• Move efficiently around the pool area, regardless of temperature or conditions.
• Maintain stamina and composure under pressure, including performing rescue skills per American Red Cross guidelines.
• Lift lounge chairs and move towel carts as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Candidates must perform essential duties satisfactorily and meet the following:

• Outgoing, friendly personality with a cheerful disposition.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Life guard, CPR, and First Aid training highly preferred.
• Well-groomed appearance and effective communication skills.
• Teamwork orientation.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively.
• Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Must stand, walk, and move in a fast-paced environment, sometimes in loud or smoky conditions. Must work in various temperature conditions and be able to lift and move equipment and furniture.

• Valid non-gaming license.
• Proficiency in English.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Background check and drug screening required.
