Job summary

Sanford Health in northern Minnesota is seeking a compassionate Polysomnographic Technologist to join our Sleep Lab team. You will perform sleep study procedures or neurological testing across diverse patient populations in a patient-focused setting.

Candidates will work under board-certified sleep physicians, maintain high-quality scoring, and adhere to AASM standards while supporting professional development and access to specialty sleep care.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited program in electroneurodiagnostic technology or respiratory technology.
  • RPSGT or Sleep Disorder Specialty credential within 2 years or enrollment.
  • A-STEP self-study modules must be completed within two years of enrollment.
  • Training in polysomnography in a CAAHEP/CoARC accredited program.
  • North Dakota license required if working there (RRT or RPSGT).
  • Maintain continuing education units to retain licensure/registry.
  • BLS certification required within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Sleep Study Procedures or Neurological Testing for all patient populations.
  • Understand testing equipment, its structure, function, indications, and maintenance.
  • Monitor and document in medical records per guidelines.
  • Adhere to AASM standards and accreditation requirements.

Our expanding Sleep Lab in northern Minnesota offers RPSGTs the opportunity to work in a patient-focused, collaborative environment providing comprehensive in-lab and home sleep testing services. We’re seeking a compassionate, patient, and problem-solving Polysomnographic Technologist to join our talent team in this highly impactful role.

Job Description
  • Performing either Sleep Study Procedures or Neurological Testing for all patient populations.
  • Understanding the testing equipment, including it’s structure, function, indications for use, physiological effect upon the patient and basic maintenance/troubleshooting procedures.
  • Monitor and document appropriately in medical record per facility guidelines.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards and accreditation.
  • Possess a knowledge and understanding of the disease and pathological conditions encountered.
  • Educating patients with prescribed therapies and sleep testing and following up as needed.
  • Acquire the ability to work with all age groups and those with growth and developmental needs of unique client populations.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, Respiratory Technology or other medical specialty preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience in Sleep Disorders field preferred.
  • Possess knowledge of sleep disorders, electrical safety, with the skill to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for patient care.
  • If RRT, required to obtain RPSGT or Sleep Disorder Specialty (RRT-SDS) credential within 2 years of starting in role or must be enrolled in one of the following:
  • Must be enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules. Non-registered technologists and technicians must complete A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of enrollment.
  • Must be enrolled in or have completed training in polysomnography in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option.
  • Working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed as a RRT or RPSGT.
  • Obtain and maintain mandatory continuing education units (CEU) each year to maintain licensure and/or registry.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of employment.
