Job summary

Sanford Health in North Dakota is seeking a Sleep Technician to perform polysomnography, titration, MSLT and MWT studies and to record data for physicians to diagnose sleep/wake disorders.

Graduate from an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic or Respiratory Tech program; 2+ years in sleep disorders preferred; ND licensure as RRT/RPSGT required or obtained within 2 years; BLS within 60 days. Sanford Health offers a sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology, Respiratory Technology or other medical specialty preferred.
• Minimum of two years of related work experience in Sleep Disorders field preferred.
• Possess knowledge of sleep disorders, electrical safety, with the skill to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for patient care.
• RRTs must obtain RPSGT or SDS credential within 2 years or be enrolled in qualifying modules.
• If working in North Dakota, licensure as an RRT or RPSGT is required.

• Monitor and document appropriately in medical records per guidelines.

• Educate patients on prescribed therapies and sleep testing and provide follow-up as needed.
• Work with all age groups including growth and developmental needs of diverse populations.

Summary

Performs quality diagnostic polysomnographic (PSG), as well as titration, multiple sleep latency (MSLT), and Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) will be performed. Records and provides relevant and accurate data to physicians for diagnostic use in the treatment of patients with sleep/wake disorders.

• Possess knowledge of sleep disorders, electrical safety, with the skill to utilize computers for patient documentation and data gathering for patient care.
• If RRT, required to obtain RPSGT or Sleep Disorder Specialty (RRT-SDS) credential within 2 years of starting role or must be enrolled in one of the following:
• 1. Must be enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules. Non-registered technologists and technicians must complete A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of enrollment. OR
• 2. Must be enrolled in or have completed training in polysomnography in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option.
• Working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed as a RRT or RPSGT.
• Obtain and maintain mandatory continuing education units (CEU) each year to maintain licensure and/or registry.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of employment.
