Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN, seeks a Sleep Diagnostic Lab professional to support night shift, PRN schedule. You will prepare patients for polysomnograms by applying electrodes and sensors, ensure patient safety, monitor throughout the night, and assist physicians with data interpretation.

Responsibilities include calibrating equipment, troubleshooting, and maintaining data integrity while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Your future role at a glance

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Study Execution: Preparing patients for polysomnograms (PSGs), which involves applying electrodes and sensors to monitor brain waves, heart rate, and breathing.
• Patient Advocacy & Safety: Interviewing patients to understand their specific symptoms and monitoring them throughout the night to intervene during apneic events or equipment malfunctions.
• Data Analysis (Scoring): This is a high-level skill where you "score" the studyâidentifying sleep stages, respiratory events (hypopneas/apneas), and limb movements to provide an interpreted report for the physician.
• Technical Management: Calibrating sensitive diagnostic equipment and performing troubleshooting or repairs to ensure data integrity.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Reg Polysomnographic Technologist credentialed from the Tennessee Polysomnography Professional Standards Committee obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
