Overview

Performs comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis under the supervision of a department manager, clinical director (MD, PhD, DO), or designee. Provides training for a Polysomnographic Trainee and demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to provide age‑appropriate care for patients.

Pay & Schedule
  • Pay Range: $26.98 - $40.46 per hour
  • Employment Type: Part Time, 20 hours every 2 weeks
  • Schedule: 2–10s per week
  • Shift Times: 8:00 pm‑6:30 am
  • Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday; Week 2: Thursday, Friday
Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze patient information and develop testing parameters in collaboration with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
  • Explain pre‑testing, testing, and post‑testing procedures to the patient, and verify documentation.
  • Prepare equipment, calibrate, and apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards; perform physiologic calibrations and PAP mask fitting.
  • Follow procedural protocols such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, etc., ensuring proper data collection.
  • Conduct lights‑out and lights‑on procedures, monitor data acquisition, and maintain signal quality.
  • Document routine observations, changes in procedure, and significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation.
  • Implement interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs, including continuous and bi‑level positive airway pressure and oxygen administration.
  • Score sleep/wake stages and clinical events according to center‑specific protocols, producing accurate reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and hospital and department competencies.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and speech; respond to participant inquiries; demonstrate appropriate social skills; apply policy in complex situations.
  • Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification and comply with the ABSM Standards of Conduct.
  • Provide age‑specific care in treatment, assessment, and education for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Oversee and perform difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
