Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and sets up equipment for sleep tests.
  • Interviews patients about sleep disorders and explains procedures.
  • Performs and scores sleep studies.
  • Educates patients on results and available resources.
  • Maintains testing equipment and reports needed repairs.
  • Maintains and calibrates sleep testing equipment.
  • Identifies needed repairs and replacements.

More about our team: Join our dedicated Respiratory Therapy team at HRMC, a 154‑bed facility offering a full range of services including general surgery, women’s care, intensive care, and emergency services. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional respiratory care, continuously seeking ways to enhance the patient and family experience. We work closely with all providers and caregivers to ensure the best possible outcomes for every patient we serve.

How you’ll contribute: A Polysomnographic Tech who excels in this role:

  • Prepares for the arrival of the patient by setting up and preparing the equipment for the ordered test.
  • Interviews patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
  • Performs testing and any additional testing required for sleep disorder that is noted.
  • Scores, interprets, and reports results of sleep studies.
  • Educates patients about test results, sleep disorders, community support groups, and available resources.
  • Prepares, calibrates, repairs, and maintains equipment required for testing.
  • Determines and reports needed repairs and replacements.

Maintains proper supplies to care for patients.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should be a registered Polysomnographic Technologist – valid and current on Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT). Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
