Job summary

Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Inc. seeks a Polysomnographic/Sleep Technologist II to conduct comprehensive sleep studies and analyses under BRPT guidelines. You will perform procedures as an RPSGT, provide patient education, and ensure quality care per hospital policy.

The role includes mentoring Tech I and students, supporting staff orientation, and upholding high communication standards with patients and families. Strong pediatric sleep experience is valued.

Qualifications

  • Two years experience performing PSG studies in a patient care environment.
  • Pediatric polysomnography experience is preferred.
  • Credential in polysomnography (RPSGT) and BLS certification are required or obtainable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PSG procedures within credentialed scope of practice as an RPSGT.
  • Maintain continuing education and competencies; update skills per industry standards.
  • Mentor, demonstrate, and tutor Tech I and students; participate in supervision as needed.

Job description

The Polysomnographic / Sleep Technologist II has passed examination by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) and proven competence to obtain credentials in polysomnography/sleep technology (RPSGT). The PSG/Sleep Technologist II provides findings, results, and a descriptive analysis according to facility policy and procedures. The PSG/Sleep Technologist II provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders involving all aspects of polysomnography testing, including diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient care, and patient education. The PSG/Sleep Technologist II works independently performing their principle duties and responsibilities and can provide supervision of the PSG/Sleep Technologist I. Technologist will support Tech I supervision, employee orientation, and precept students. Strong well developed communication skills are essential for this position.

Position Duties
  • The Polysomnographic/Sleep Technologist II performs procedures appropriate to the competence and credentials of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
  • Maintains continuing education and competencies; acquires new competencies relative to industry standards in Sleep Medicine and sleep studies as an RPSGT.
  • Participates in mentoring, demonstrating, and tutoring Tech I and students
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications

Education

Do you meet this requirement or have the ability to obtain it within the timeframe listed in the requirement? 1. Graduation from an ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET) or American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accredited Neurodiagnostic (END) Program with an add-on track in PSG, a accredited Polysomnographic Technologist Program, or a Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Polysomnographic Certificate Program, or a High school diploma.

Experience

Do you meet this requirement or have the ability to obtain it within the timeframe listed in the requirement? 1. Two (2) years experience in the performance of PSG studies in a patient care environment.

2. Pediatric polysomnography experience.

Additional Requirements
