Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a PSG/Sleep Technologist I in the Sleep Lab to perform polysomnography testing, scoring, CPAP/BiPAP titration, and oxygen titration with patient safety in mind. You will set up tests, apply electrodes, and work under supervision while communicating clearly with patients and staff.

Education: ABRET END PSG track or AASM accredited program or equivalent; experience: six months independent PSG in patient care; certifications: current BLS required, CPSGT

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or graduated from an ABRET END PSG program with add-on PSG track or AASM accredited program, or other accredited PSG program.
  • Six months experience independently performing PSG/sleep studies in a patient care environment.
  • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider required.
  • Board-eligible or CPSGT credentialing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs polysomnography testing independently.
  • Scores sleep studies and assists with CPAP/BiPAP titration and oxygen titration.
  • Maintains ongoing education and competencies in sleep medicine.

Position Summary

The Polysomnographic (PSG)/Sleep Technologist I is an entry to mid-level position in the Sleep Lab department. The PSG/Sleep Technologist I is able to perform polysomnography testing, scoring, CPAP/BiPAP titration, and oxygen titration independently. The PSG/Sleep Technologist I will perform the polysomnogram, including test set up, electrode application, maintaining patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related duties. This position works under direct or indirect supervision of a RPSGT Communication skills are essential for this position.

Position Duties
  • The Polysomnographic/Sleep Technologist I demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and competencies to perform a variety of sleep procedures independently.
  • Maintains continuing education and competencies; acquires new competencies relative to industry standards in Sleep Medicine and sleep studies working towards certification in Polysomnography.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications
Education

1. High School Education or equivalent

Required

2. Currently enrolled in or graduate from an ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET) Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program with an add-on track in PSG, or American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accredited, or other accredited Polysomnographic Technologist Program, or a Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care Polysomnographic Certificate Program or an Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is desired.

1. Six months experience independently performing PSG/sleep studies in a patient care environment (can include clinical rotations)
