Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a registered polysomnographic technologist to perform sleep studies and CPAP titration in a hospital setting. The role requires adherence to protocols, accurate documentation, and equipment calibration. You will apply electrodes, monitor patient progress, and maintain inventory while ensuring high-quality sleep data.

Candidates should hold RPT registration, CPR certification, and commit to 10 CECs annually, with strong communication and customer service under pressure.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered by the RPT.
  • Must obtain 10 CECs in Sleep per year.
  • Must have valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Review history, physical, medications, order, and study protocol.
  • Complete and verify documentation.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment and troubleshoot as necessary.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to the International 10-20 system.
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure mask fitting and titration.
  • Conduct artifact-free studies and make adjustments.
  • Implement CPAP, Bi-level, and oxygen administration as needed.
  • Assist with Sleep/Wake stages.
  • Clean equipment according to protocol.
  • Monitor inventory.
  • Score polysomnographic studies per The AASM Manual.
  • Serve as a resource for polysomnographic technicians.

Job description

Essential Duties:
  1. Review history, physical, medications, order, and study protocol.
  2. Complete and verify documentation.
  3. Prepare and calibrate equipment and troubleshoot as necessary.
  4. Apply electrodes and sensors according to the International 10-20 system.
  5. Perform routine positive airway pressure mask fitting and titration.
  6. Conduct artifact-free studies and make adjustments.
  7. Implements appropriate interventions including CPAP, Bi-level, and oxygen administration.
  8. Assists with Sleep/Wake stages.
  9. Cleans equipment according to protocol.
  10. Monitors inventory.
  11. Scores polysomnographic studies according to The AASM Manual for the Scoring of Sleep and Associated Events.
  12. Serves as a resource for Polysomnographic technicians.
Qualifications
Education:
  1. Must be registered by the RPT.
  2. Must obtain 10 CECs in Sleep per year.
  3. Must have valid American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Experience:
  1. Minimum one year experience with psg and cpap titrations preferred but not required.
Skills:
  1. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and provide great customer service under stressful situations.
  2. Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and pleasant manner in both verbal and written form.
  3. Ability to multi-task.
