Job summary

ACO, Inc. in Mentor, OH is seeking a Polymer Production Operator to safely control equipment on the production line and ensure product quality.

You will perform mold preparation, inspection, curing handling, and apply a thin coat of wax as described, while maintaining a clean, safe work environment and complying with company policies.

Shift is 6am-4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime often; this is a hands-on role requiring teamwork and strict adherence to procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience with manufacturing/production equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions precisely.

Responsibilities

  • Clean mold jackets and mold core, remove excess flashing, wax, and debris.
  • Inspect products for quality and report issues.
  • Place products in curing racks or transport to appropriate areas.
  • Apply a thin coat of hot wax to mold surface when required.
  • Ensure mold alignment and safe operation of equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.

ACO, Inc. Polymer Production Operator Position Description
POLYMER PRODUCTION OPERATOR

SUMMARY: The Production Operator will safely control various equipment to produce products on the Production Line.

Polymer Production Operator Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Clean mold jackets and mold core, clearing away any excess flashing, wax, and foreign debris.
  • Scrape flashing from product.
  • Visually inspect for quality, i.e. holes, cracks, uneven rails, short rails, etc. tell Team Leader if questionable.
  • Set product in curing rack if quality is acceptable or scrap it if the quality is not acceptable; insert grates where applicable.
  • Remove from curing rack when next piece is ready, (leaving larger channels in the rack for two rounds) and move from curing rack to pallet or to patch area if needed.
  • Apply a thin coat of hot wax to top surface of mold only (consistency of wax must be liquid).
  • Clean knockouts.
  • Re-assemble jackets and end caps of mold so that they close properly. Insert K-rails or SK100 rails if needed. Make sure rails seat correctly in mold.
  • Check to make sure inner bars are closed, if not, pull inner bars firmly to right of mold using wrench.
  • Double-check that mold is closed properly. (There should be no gaps between the mold jackets and the end caps.)
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  • Comply with Company policies and procedures

  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping
  • Required regularly to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to squat, stand, stoop bend down, for long periods of time
  • Required to occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch; and talk or hear
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 75lbs and maximum of 100lbs
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out general instructions
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment
